About Our Diets

Feeding hundreds of big geckos with a well balanced diet and satisfying the personal taste of every animal in the collection it’s a demanding task.
After many years we wanted a complete and easy to prepare diet palatable to every gecko. Of course we were using the other good products on the market but we wanted something more specific for our beloved animals.
After several years of trials we finally obtained satisfying results.
We started to feed our formulas as an integration at the beginning, as big part of the diet and at the end as sole food resource.
We were impressed by the good results: almost all of the animals were having a fantastic growth rate, were breeding well and they weren’t bulky fat but lean and muscular as they should be.

LEACHIE LINGUINE

This is the first diet in the world specifically made for Rhacodactylus leachianus.
As leachianus are the main focus of our collection, we studied a diet that could satisfy all their nutritional needs.
Over the years we noted that a moderately higher protein content in the diet was responsible for an higher and faster growing rate above all in GT animals.
At the same time, after being in NC several times, we believe that leachianus feed on a good variety of insects and smaller lizards, above all animals from mainland and Isle of pines.
For these reasons we wanted an higher protein content in the food for our leachianus but still into a reasonable and safe range, under 30%.
That’s why Leachie Linguine has an higher protein content compared to other diets on the market.
Another important factor was the palatability. As in our experience leachianus were pretty picky about the diets on the market, we wanted something they would accept right away or in very few trials.

Ingredients: insect meal, brown rice flour, dried honey, dried banana, dried apricot, dried mango, calcium carbonate, apple pectin, bee pollen, xanthan gum, spirulina algae, kelp meal, probiotic blend (Bifidobacterium bifido and Pediococcus acidilactici), calcium citrate, natural banana flavor, potassium sorbate, choline citrate, vitamin e, vitamin a, niacin, inositol, pantothenic acid, beta carotene, riboflavin, cholecalciferol, thiamine mononitrate, pyroxidine hcl, folic acid, menadione sodium bisulfite, biotin, vitamin b12.

Guaranteed analysis: Crude Protein (Min): 28 %, Crude Fat (Min): 7,0 %, Crude Fiber (Max): 6,0 %, Moisture (Max): 8 %, Ash (Max): 8,0 %, Calcium: 1,5 %, Phosphorus: 0.5 %

LEACHIE LASAGNA

The feeding regime of leachianus in the wild is subject to seasonal variations. With lower temperatures the animals are less active, don’t breed and grow slowly. Food resources are more scarce.
This is why we wanted a winter formula with lower protein and fat contents to use during cooling down periods.
We kept the same high palatability
This formula is the ideal to rotate with the Leachie Linguine even during summertime. And used as winter formula for chahoua as well.

Ingredients: insect meal, brown rice flour, dried honey, dried banana, dried mango, calcium carbonate, apple pectin, bee pollen, xanthan gum spirulina algae, kelp meal, probiotic blend (Bifidobacterium bifido and Pediococcus acidilactici), calcium citrate, natural banana flavor, potassium sorbate, choline citrate, vitamin e, vitamin a, niacin, inositol, pantothenic acid, beta carotene, riboflavin, cholecalciferol, thiamine mononitrate, pyroxidine hcl, folic acid, menadione sodium bisulfite, biotin, vitamin b12.

Guaranteed analysis: Crude Protein (Min): 23 %, Crude Fat (Min): 6.0 %, Crude Fiber (Max): 5.0 %, Moisture (Max): 8.0 %, Ash (Max): 6.0 %, Calcium: 1.5 %, Phosphorus: 0.5 %

CHEWIE FETTUCCINE

This formula has been developed with Miniarogecko chahoua in mind so beside finding a combination of flavors that could please chahoua (notoriously the more skittish of the Rhacodactylus complex) we added more calcium as they lay eggs with a thick calcium matrix and females tend to “crash” after few clutches.
We still kept the protein level higher as chahoua feed more on invertebrate (and possibly small lizards too) than on fruits.
We rotate Chewie Fettuccine with Leachie Lasagna and Rhaco Risotto to offer variety with lower protein and fat content, above all in winter.
Due to the higher calcium content, this formula is useful for all fruit and nectar species that lay hard shelled eggs, like day geckos and Ailuronyx species.

RHACO RISOTTO

This is our formula designated for all the Rhacodactylus complex gecko, to rotate with other diets if you want or used as a staple diet for crested geckos, gargoyles, trachyrhynchus. Even in this formula we used high quality protein source, using just insects meal.
